MOFAD - Museum of Food and Drink

In Dumbo, on the second floor of the Time Out Market sits the little exhibit that could. MOFAD (Museum of Food and Drink) has relocated from East Williamsburg to a compact space on Brooklyn’s waterfront. Destined to get better foot traffic, the museum is currently featuring an exhibit on Flavor: The World to Your Brain.

The Smell Synthesizer

Ideal for grade schoolers to foodies, the exhibit walks you through how the five senses contribute to how we consume our food dimensionally. The journey starts with an informative puzzle that illustrates how many sensors one has on the tongue. Then it’s on to the smell synthesizer that demonstrates how a mix of odors inform our perception of what we will enjoy or run from.

One of the highlights of the exhibit is the brainwave EEG monitor that tracks in real time how your brain reacts to a surge in flavor.

MOFAD brings the world of food and drink to life with exhibits you can taste, touch, and smell. Their goal is to be the world’s premier food museum and a global educational resource that inspires generations of curious eaters of all ages and backgrounds.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children 5 - 13 years old.
